Cesaria Evora (August 27, 1941 - December 17, 2011)
Where do I begin?
This woman was a phenomenal Cape Verdean artist who touched not only her own people, but others who did not even understand the language she sung in. She definitely put Cape Verde on the map with her beautiful voice and stage presence. Sold out venues all over the world that mostly consisted of people who are not of Cape Verdean nationality or decent. She was able to touch each and every person who has listened to her works.
I am deeply saddened not only being a Cape Verdean, but being a singer myself. A dream of mine was to be able to meet her one day. She was the one who made me fall in love with morna. The first mornas I heard growing up were by Cesaria Evora and I always made sure to learn how to sing along. Today we have lost a GREAT voice, I have lost an idol. In my heart and in my memory she will live on forever.
May we continue sharing her music, so that generations to come are aware of this exceptional individual who has marked us all and so that they learn to love her like we have.

BEST TIME OF MY LIFE!
I just got back from the COLE WORLD concert at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD and Im so happy that I cant sleep. Not only is he amazing lyrically, but on stage as well. He made sure to engage with every single person in the audience. He gave me a shout out and looked at me so many times. That made me feel great not only because he’s a beautiful man, but because he takes the time to acknowledge everyone that was there supporting him. I LOVE J COLE!!!!!! If you have a chance to see him live, DO SO! it’ll be well worth it! I waited in the rain with no umbrella for 2 hours and Im glad i did it!!
